It is done to determine cytological types and proportion of haematopoieticceus in Marrow. Article required are aspiration needle, biopsy needle, spirited swan, betadine, l ocal anesthesia, 10-20 ml syringe, clean glass slide. Site for bone marrow aspiration taken is usually iliac spine or crest, sternum, tibia, spinous process of lumbar vertebra.

Patient is placed in lateral position, skin infilterated with local anasethetic. Then bone marrow is aspirated & slides are made. Then at the same site, biopsy sample is taken in the formation.
