For Type 2 Diabetes
Self-Assessment to identify being at risk for developing type 2 diabetes if you are:
- Overweight
- 45 years or older
- Family history of type 2 diabetes
- Physically inactive
- With gestational diabetes history
- pre-diabetes status
For Type 1 Diabetes
It is caused by an immune reaction (the body attacks and kills its self-tissues by mistake). Known risk factors include:
- Family history: Having a parent, brother, or sister with type 1 diabetes.
- Age: You can get type 1 diabetes at any age, but it’s more likely to develop when you’re a child, teen, or young adult.
- Increased thirst and urination
- Increased appetite
- Easy Fatigue
- Unexplained weight loss
- Blurred vision
- Numbness or tingling in the feet or hands
- Delayed healing of ulcers or wound
- Cardiovascular disease (IHD)
- Nerve damage (neuropathy)
- Kidney damage (nephropathy)
- Eye damage (retinopathy)
- Cerebro Vascular Accidents (CVA)
- Skin conditions – recurrent fungal and bacterial infections
